Aaliyah Dana Haughton came into fame in 1994, after she debuted her first album Age Ain't Nothing But A Number. When she was just 15 the album was awarded Gold recognition. It was done as an album that was heavily in the style of R. Kelly and it placed her in the spotlight. In 1996, she collaborated with Jermaine Dupri and Timbaland for her second album One In A Million which included the top-rated hit song If Your Girl Only Knew. Aaliyah was a well-known R&B vocalist after the release. The year 2000 saw her co-starred with the legendary martial artist Jet Li as Jet Li in Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver, film producer and director of the movie Romeo Must Die, spotted her at an award ceremony. In 2002 she was in the vampire movie Queen of the Damned based on the Anne Rice book. Then she was introduced to the Matrix by playing Zee in The Matrix Sequels having also performed on The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 and The Matrix Revolutions in the same year. She received four Grammy nominations for 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2003. The actress is the very first generation of Indian-American born and raised in Connecticut. Mann is a shortening of her marriage final name Mankad. The actress uses Aarti Man as well as Aarti Mahumdar for her official name. Though she started her career by playing minor film and television parts, her acting career started to gain growth in the latter half of 2000s. Other than The Big Bang Theory her most notable work includes Leverage (2012) Suits (2013) and Grey's Anatomy (2017). The actress has been featured in a variety of commercials, including Volvo's global car maker. Her daughter is a resident of Los Angeles and is pursuing acting.
